Born in Berlin, Helma immigrated to the United States in 1965. Making Palm Springs her first stop before eventually moving to Beverly Hills. She knows the territory well. With her husband, noted Palm Desert general surgeon Dr. Peter Mamula, she was a member of the LaQuinta Country Club, circulating with the area’s most distinguished residents.

After being widowed, Helma moved to Beverly Hills and married urologist Dr. Stephen Bloomberg. While raising their family, they were involved in an array of nonprofits and social activities. Their daughter Stephanie attended Vassar College and Alanna headed off to Santa Barbara.
